Martina Miño Pérez (Ecuador, 1990) is an artist and researcher who works between Helsinki and Quito. Martina positions her artwork as a “counter-visual” practice, creating “incarnations” and “immersions” that use taste, smell and touch as the main senses of interpretation of the artistic experience. In her works, the “disappearance” and “integration” of the visible object are approached as transforming instruments of thought. She uses the poetics of “digestion” as a metaphor for the assimilation of concepts and her material research explores her poetic potential. Like contemporary alchemy, she uses resin, iron, stone, and other materials to produce transformative vessels, while also employing experimental techniques in culinary science. Her pieces want to provoke intimate and ritualistic, sensory, and collective encounters between her work and her audience.

Martina has exhibited her work in Finland, Sweden, Japan, Germany, Estonia, Mexico, and Ecuador. She has shown her work in spaces such as Proyecto N.A.S.A.L,, The Institute of Endotic Research (Berlin); Pori Biennale IV (Finland), Supermarket Art Fair (Sweden), Arte Actual FLACSO and at the Center for Contemporary Art in Quito.

Martina works as producer and curator in Third Space Gallery Helsinki.
